Does social media help our students to be sociable?
Through my experience with my students and my kids I have found that social media supports what I can safely call virtual social communication not the real one. We are being pushed to a new kind of interpersonal communication. Are we pushed to towards technological isolation and be enslaved to technology? I am afraid that one day all human kind will be connected as computers are today.
I don't know whether it is bad or good. Am I hallucinating?
What do you think?

I agree with you that communicating through this technology could create this virtual social communication. from another view, don't you think that the life is going very busy and we need at least to this kind of the virtual communication. But, we can remanage our time to haev the real social life from to time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you . I spend long time on line ,not to mention TV .I talk to many friends & relatives on FB instead of visiting or meeting.
ReplyDeleteThis could be really dangerous .
Mr Mohamed you really touched adeep fear in my mind that I always fear to think about that's why when we argued about prensky's point of view I way against using technology all the time . It becomes a must to use technology but we also need to learn from nature we are the sons of nature.
ReplyDeleteRight Dalia, But we can't turn our backs to technology or we shall be isolated from our world. We should find a way in-between and lead a balanced life.
DeleteWe are living the future that people 50 years ago dreamed about: a phone in every pocket, with video connectivity; a computer on every desk. Is there future (our present) really that bad? Will the future really be as bad as we make it out to be? Do we want to go back to the days of no information and communication technologies. If you do, leave your cell-phones and computers home tomorrow. Report next class.
ReplyDeleteMy point is We should find a way in-between and lead a balanced life.
DeleteI think it's really dangerous to keep our kids with technology by themselves. They should be guided and told about what is good and what is bad about these tools.
ReplyDeleteGreat mohamed good luck my dear friend imiss meeting you
ReplyDeletewe too Nagla . I can understand your point of view Mohammad , because My kids and me too can spend all day using computer , i can't go out without my mobile and I can't imagine a TV without a cable. we can't imagine our lives without satellites . Mohammad ,hello do you want to live in the past? That is impossible .We have to manage our time, for us and for our kids .
ReplyDeleteI can touch your point of view Mohammad. I feel that technology begins to slinks slowly in our lives and bit by bit it spreads its arms to control everything even our free time in which we feel warm or feel comfort when we relief our pains by meeting people or enjoy talking to them. Technology introduces different kinds of amusements which I fear to replace human.
